Understanding the quota places

There are 24 places per gender. The ranking normally allocates 17: 3 each for ranks 1–2, 2 each for ranks 3–5 and 1 each for ranks 6–10. Europe and Oceania must each be represented. If either is absent, its highest-ranked nation receives a place taken from the last available ranking places; this must not remove another continent's only representation.

  • 3 2027 Continental Championships: one place each for Africa, America and Asia.
  • 1 2027 World Championships.
  • 1 2028 World Championships.
  • 1 Universality place by invitation/application.

These places have not been attributed to any nation here. The championship routes apply to nations without a place through the preceding routes. Later results and reallocations may change the projection. The decisive ranking date is 30 May 2028. The UCI confirms quotas afterwards; selection of individual riders is separate.
